Check Your Paycheck for High-Demand Enhancements!

Fall 2025 High-Demand Funds Distributed!

The non-Nursing high-demand salary increases for Fall Quarter have been distributed to the eligible faculty! Those faculty received all of the funds that the state provided the college for this purpose in accordance with the Workforce Education Investment Act of 2019 (WEIA), which totals $680,000 for this year.

Let’s be clear. The college administration did not to give us these salary enhancements. College presidents lobbied state legislators to remove the proviso from the WEIA funds. When that proviso is attached, there is a requirement that the colleges report to the state on how the money was used. The proviso was removed and the money was given to the college in their general fund. It was expected to be used for salary increases in high-demand programs, but our administration tried to keep it.

The reason this did not work is that the union fought back, both at the negotiating table and in the public. Union members contacted legislators, spoke to the Board of Trustees about the issue, and spoke to many faculty, staff, and students about it. The union would like to thank everyone who took action in support of getting our faculty their high-demand salary increases, but we would especially like to thank our high-demand bargaining team, Stephanie Bevans, Jennifer Casperson, Erika Fererri, Gabrielle McIntosh, and Mary Whitfield.

How to Verify Your High-Demand Payment

Step 1: Check Your Eligibility

If you taught a class in one of the following departments in Fall Quarter 2025, you are eligible to receive high-demand payments.

STEM Division

  • AMMET (AMMET)
  • Biology (BIOL, NUTR)
  • Chemistry (CHEM)
  • Computer Science (CS)
  • Engineering (ENGR - Excluding ENGR 100 and ENGR 231)
  • Engineering Technology (ETEC)
  • Geology (GEOL and ENVS)
  • Mathematics (MATH - Excluding MATH 47 because it isn’t part of the Math Dept.)
  • Physics (PHYS and ASTR)
  • ROBAI (ROBAI)

Corrections

  • Only classes that are from HD departments

HHS Division

  • Allied Health Education (AHE, MEDA and DENTL - Excluding AHE 100)
  • Integrated Healthcare Management (IHCM)
  • Paralegal (LEGAL - Excluding LEGAL 100)

Business Division

Step 2: Check Your Email

If you are eligible for a high-demand payment, you should have received an email on Dec 8 from Joseph Roland in HR with a PDF attachment that explains how much money you will receive. We recommend that you verify the amount of high-demand FTE that you taught in Fall 2025. If you taught all high-demand classes in Fall 2025, your FTE would be 1.0 and your payment would be $1614.69.

Step 3: Check Your Paycheck

  • Login to ctcLink.
  • Click on HCM Self-Service > Payroll > Paychecks.
  • Click on your 12/10/2025 paycheck to open the PDF of your paystub.
  • In the Hours and Earnings section of the paycheck, there should be an entry with a description of High Demand Payment that has the same amount listed in the Earnings column as the amount listed in Joseph Roland’s email.

When we fight, we win!

This fight is not over! The college administration still needs to pay the faculty who teach high-demand classes in Winter 2026 and Spring 2026. In addition, your faculty union and the college administration will be entering contract negotiations in January 2026. This is our chance to fight for better pay, better benefits, and better working conditions, and if these high-demand negotiations have taught us anything, it’s that when we fight, we win!
