Contract Negotiations Update 1-19-2026

Has Anyone Seen Dr. Chapman?

The Faculty Collective Bargaining Team submitted our intent to bargain on December 16, 2025. We are now two weeks into the new year and the management team, led by Dr. Kim Chapman, has still not responded with any proposed meeting dates. If anyone sees Dr. Chapman, please let her know that the faculty union is ready and eager to begin bargaining.

On the other hand, we have heard claims from College President Dr. Singh that Gov. Ferguson’s proposed cuts to community and technical colleges will cut $700,000 from Edmonds College. Many faculty view this doom-and-gloom message as an attempt to convince the faculty union not to request pay raises in our contract negotiations. As we have discussed, the Faculty Collective Bargaining Team is fighting for pay raises for associate faculty and full-time faculty this year.

Let’s Go!

Meanwhile, the Faculty Collective Bargaining Team, with assistance from the Contract Action Team, has begun the hard work of developing proposals to make a more fair and equitable contract for our members. Check out these issue pages for more information about what is on our mind as we write our proposals.

Upcoming Events

Friendship Bracelets

The Contract Action Team would love for you to join us for a low-key, community-building action next week!

What: Making bargaining friendship bracelets
When: Thursday, January 29th at 3:30 PM
Where: HZL 221

These bracelets will be shared along with information about our contract at Care and Belonging Day, as a visible reminder of solidarity, care, and collective power.

All-Union Meeting

There will be an All-Union Meeting on Friday, Feb 6, from 11 - 12:30 pm. We will be discussing our platform for contract negotiations and what our members can do to support the efforts of our Faculty Collective Bargaining Team.

Lobby Day on Presidents Day!

Lobby Day is Monday, Feb 16! This is our chance to demand fully-funded COLAs, oppose funding cuts, and show our support for HB 2538, which would provide Associate Faculty pay at 85% of Full-Time Faculty. If you want to join us, register with the AFT for Lobby Day at the link provided.
