The rumble of bucket drums echoed across north campus on Wednesday as members of the Edmonds College Federation of Teachers marched in support of higher wages for associate faculty, the hiring of more full-time faculty, and to demand that the management of Edmonds College stop stalling and move forward with negotiations. The Contract Action Team organized the march from Clearview Hall to Gateway Hall, where they received applause and words of support from Edmonds College staff, students, and faculty. The marchers also received support from the community as drivers honked their horns while the marchers banged their drums along 196th St. Afterward, marchers said that it felt good to make their demands known and receive so much support from our colleagues and neighbors.
Negotiation Update 6-8-2026
In spite of what appears to be more stalling from the management negotiating team, some progress was made in negotiations. A new appendix to the contract that would define the job description and protections of permanent status faculty is progressing towards a tentative agreement. The Faculty Collective Bargaining Team also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with management to extend our current contract until the end of the calendar year.
Even though the academic year is coming to a close, negotiations will continue. The FCBT is planning to meet with management during Summer Quarter to make sure that both parties make progress towards a contract. We would like to extend our appreciation to our union bargaining team for making the commitment to meet over the summer. When those summer negotiation sessions happen, we will report the results of those negotiations to you here.
